sweet corn, whole cob

Sweetcorn – another New World vegetable that has toured and settled around the world. The America’s, its home, have a huge variety of colours and types.

Very good for kapha, and fine for all in smaller amounts. Useful in urinary, liver and gallbladder problems.

Astoundingly sweet when very fresh. It can be eaten raw when straight from the plant.

Farmers advice: Put the water on to boil, then go pick the corn!……of course with lots of butter and freshly cracked pepper…

  • I like to put rounds cut from the cob in dishes so that the eater must used their hands and lick their fingers.
  • Wonderful roasted whole on the BBQ (remove the silk and close them up again).
